DUTCH 'N' KRAUT
Who are we?
Dutch 'n' Kraut that's Eef (the Dutch) and me (Rainer, the Kraut).
After several years of playing only cover songs Eef came up with a couple of own song ideas which we both thought would be worth to be heard by a wider audience.
So we started to compose, arrange, mix and produce these songs all by ourselves (and with a little help from LANDR - particularly with the mastering stuff) out of which "Maria (Her Name Was...)" is the very first we published. Our second one ("Memories Remain") and a couple of others followed soon and there are more to come within the next months ....
We don't want to make any fuzz about ourselves. All what counts is the music. And music for us means emotions and feelings conveyed by harmonies, sounds, grooves and, last but not least, words and stories.
We hope you'll enjoy it ....

And how we sound?
It's not so easy to tell. In a broad sense it is Pop. But Pop is a wide field and some of our songs are rather scratching at the border of it. But I would not dare to call it Rock, Alternative, Singer/Songwriter or Independent. However, some songs actually borrow from these styles.
Maybe we are just about to create our own style. Who knows?

Something rocking again. The lyrics aren't autobiographical at all this time, but rather spawned from Dutch's imagination, which sometimes gets carried away with him. But why not. If everyone just sang about what they experienced themselves, there wouldn't be as many songs... and they probably wouldn't be as interesting.
By the way, we have another video in the works for this song, which will probably be released in the next few weeks. So stay tuned.

Ten
It really took a while with this song. I don't mean composing and arranging. It was actually all done at the end of last year. No, the publication on the streaming platforms, especially on YouTube, took a while. But it did have its good side, because out of frustration I uploaded the song manually to YouTube with a hand-made video. In it I tried to convey the mood of the song with a few pictures and video sequences. I hope you like it. Here the link to the video.

The 9
This one has been released at beginning of June. It's a very positive song that is sure to put you in a good mood when you listen to it. I exaggerated the content of the song a bit on the cover. I don't think Eef thought it was that funny. Anyway, he has forbidden me to depict any extraterrestrial flying objects on our future covers for the foreseeable future.

Seven
A very quiet song. Rather the category "blood pressure lowering". In today's time this can be quite helpful.
The Dutch gives the wise advice not to hold on to the past, but to enjoy your time in the here and now. The eternal looking back would only spoil the mood ... how true.

Our 5th
Actually this song is the first one we made together. Eef came up with the song idea back in 2016. We had recorded it then with only Eef on his Western and me on my E-Guitar (a Gibson SG). The take sounded very poor, however we were convinced that the Song had something. And so we recorded it again with drums and piano end of last year and finally mixed and mastered it recently.
I think it was worth it.

Our 4th Song
A really dead sad song.
Imagine you are looking in the newspaper and all of the sudden you recognize the name of someone you have known in past when you were young ... kind of teenage love. But there's no way to meet her again since it is the orbituary you are looking at.
I hope I have done my job well on piano and guitar to support the melancholy of this story.

Our 3rd one
I must admit that this song left me at a loss. In its first part it sounds all so positive, so full of determination. And yes, why not having doubts about whether one can make it when trying to change something in his or her life. But the very last part reverses that completely. I was tempted to ask Eef if he's joking or if he actually needs some anti-depressants, but I never dared. I am sure I wouldn't have gotten any reply ... except an amused gaze.

Our very first one
that we ever published.
It's about an awesome woman who has the unpleasant habit of ripping off innocent tourists.
I don't know if Eef actually had met this woman but the song text really implies it. Maybe it's only fantasy. But what would we be without fantasies?
